As the Headteacher, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to
Tilehouse Combined School’s website. At Tilehouse we pride ourselves on the happy, secure and stimulating learning environment we provide for our pupils. Through this website we hope to share with you some of the wide range of curriculum activities they have the chance to take part in.

We are a one form entry school located in Denham Green, South Bucks. The pupils who attend here range from Reception right through to year 6 and we currently have 140 on role. We have an experienced and dedicated team of teachers and support staff who work to ensure all pupils are challenged and supported in achieving their full potential.

As well as our bright and spacious classrooms we have a number of shared areas containing a library, a music room, an art and technology room and a newly upgraded ICT suite with seventeen networked computers. Every classroom has an interactive whiteboard and two computers which are networked to those in the ICT suite. In addition to this we have a large playground and field and an open air swimming pool which enables us to provide swimming lessons every week, for every child, during the summer term. All of this means our pupils have access to excellent facilities and plenty of space to spread out and work in smaller groups when required.

We value the input of parents and operate an open door policy encouraging them to come and chat through any concerns they have a soon as possible. In return staff work hard to maintain regular contact and discuss any issues as soon as they arise. I am also often available at the beginning and end of day if parents wish to see me. There are regular parents’ evenings to discuss individual pupils’ progress with their class teacher. Parents are also encouraged to work alongside us in school if they have the time to help.

We hold class assemblies every term which parents are invited to attend as well as special performances around Harvest and Christmas. We also invite our local senior citizens to these events and provide them with refreshments served by the pupils. We have regular activity days and themed activity weeks focusing on a particular curriculum area or topic.

We are committed to the school being very much part of the wider community and we have good links with the local church, health services and senior citizen care homes. Our pupils are encouraged to take part in a wide range of extra curricular activities and music and performance are particular strengths of the school.

We always welcome visitors so please don’t hesitate to make an appointment to see me if you want to find out more about our school or take a look around.
